This is so exciting! Other than Disney’s Aladdin shaping many people’s childhoods, The Prince of Egypt is another animated film set in the Arab world (well, a non-fictional location compared to Aladdin’s Agrabah) and now we get to experience the story in a new way!

The 1998 animated film was a huge critical and box office success with an amazing soundtrack and now, the biblical story of Moses, is jumping out of our screens and to the stage.

A theatrical run for The Prince of Egypt is set to premier in London at the Dominion Theatre in February 2020 for a limited 32-week run. We can’t wait!

The Prince of Egypt musical will be based on the original DreamWorks film and will feature 10 new songs and include five from the movie version.

And yes, that means we will get to hear one of the most iconic songs of our generation.

When You Believe by Mariah Carey and the late Whitney Houston, won the award for Best Original Song at the 1999 Oscars, will be one of the most anticipated songs of the show.

The show will be produced by DreamWorks Theatricals, Michael McCabe, and Neil Laidlaw. Stephen Schwartz of Wicked fame, will be head of music and lyrics while dancer, choreographer and dance competition judge, Sean Cheesman will be responsible for choreography.

There’s no news on casting choices as of yet, but hey think you have what it takes? Check out the tweet below:

In case you’ve never seen the film (where have you been all your life?) The Prince Of Egypt is the story of two young men brothers raised together as brothers Ancient Egypt. Surrounded by luxury and privilege their lives take an unexpected turn when one of them discovers his secret past and both their futures are changed forever. One must become Pharaoh, the other must free his people no matter what the consequences!

The animated film movie celebrated its 20th-anniversary last year ang this seems the perfect way to celebrate. Previews for the show will begin on February 5 before the show’s official debut on February 25 and tickets will be going on sale on June 3.
